Thato One Big Happy Family

About Us:

Thato one big family LGBTIQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer) An organisation that seeks to educate and equip people in communities with LGBTIQ culture and visibility through awareness campaigns, educational workshops and school talks. Our aim ultimately is to be the voice of reason to every member of the LGBTIQ community and help them deal with issues they face on a daily basis.

We strive to be positive and constructive in all our programs at Thato one big family LGBTIQ society. As an award-winning GBV Activist, the issue of Gender based violence within LGBTIQ community is also a call for oncern and as a proud activist it's my duty to be the voice of the voiceless and curb the scourge of Hate crime.

LGBTQI people face higher rates of poverty, stigma, and marginalization, which put them at greater risk of assaults. They are faced with higher rates of hate-motivated violence simply because of who they are. This notion has to end. We will keep fighting the good fight. The LGBTQI community is suffering through rape and abuse.
The LGBTQI community is subjected to offering explanations about their sexuality.

About Us:

The founder of “Love Your Nuts” was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1995 whilst educating young teenagers about ‘sex education’ at a school and being in his early thirties himself.  His journey of survival started by openly confronting in his book his thoughts and emotions, relate the reactions of his friends, family and not least, his students, who provoked him without reserve and in doing so, gave him enormous help and hope.  His book “Love your nuts” was published internationally in 2011 in English (German version was published in Germany in 2004 already).  "He has won, he lives, and he loves. He is showing everybody how valuable they are and how fantastic life can be" (a reader's words) and therefore has a passion for this campaign.

Born in 1965 and grew up in Namibia

He studied teaching (Biology and German) and was a teacher for 15 years in Namibia. This 15-year span was interrupted three times (in the years 1991, 1997/8 and 2006) and he toured through 50 countries on all the continents.

He has been a Cape Town, South Africa resident since 2007. Up to the end of 2016 he was working as a graphic designer – after leaving the teaching profession in 2005.

Since January 2017 he works fulltime for the “Love your Nuts” foundation with the best job description ever: talking balls and saving lives!

About Us:

Tannah’s Gift was founded in 2013, with the sole purpose of giving back to the underprivileged communities in our beautiful country. Lending a helping hand to those who need it the most and creating smiles along the way.

Dedicated to raising both funds and awareness for the Netcare Cleft-lip and palate foundation, TG has been a dedicated partner to the Netcare Foundation for over a decade and has remained a loyal donor to the foundation, donating over a million rand to the cause over the years

Cleft Palate effects around 1 in every 700 births, the cause of the defect is largely unknown. A cleft lip and palate, is a birth defect that effects the mouth, nose and lip area and has major implications on feeding, speech, facial features, the development of the mouth, nose and teeth.

There are many variations when it comes the birth defect and the level of treatment required for reconstruction depends on the severity of the defect.

Corrective surgery starting at the age of 3months, all the way to 16years is required in most cleft lip and palate patients. This is just one of the many steps required to give these little angels a chance at a normal life.

The children require speech therapy, regular visits to an ENT (ear, nose & throat specialist) and orthodontics when they get older.

As babies they require specialised feeding bottles and care.

Having to deal with the costs of all of the above are impossible for underprivileged families and the mental anguish and strain, these families have to deal with over and above the costs are unexplainable.

Knowing that in some small way TG, through the Netcare Foundation is able to offer these families the medical assistance and care these beautiful children need for a chance at a normal life, is the reason Tannah’s Gift will continue its work far into the future

Our mission is to create smiles, while making a difference in the lives of our fellow South Africans who need it the most.

While TG remains the major donor of the Cleft Lip and Palate foundation, we are committed to supporting the Netcare Foundation on a whole.
